Lighted Keyboards

Postby -7-Slappy on Fri Jul 01, 2005 11:09 am

What's the preference here: Plain or lighted boards, esp for LANs?

At home, I rarely play in a totally dark room, so it's not an issue. I'm finding though at LANs, I spend a fair amount of time staring at mah board trying to see where the hell that parachute key is hiding!

I saw this collection of boards, but honestly they're butt ugly. I'd really like a board where only the letters/numbers light up, not the whole damned thing.

Or, I guess I could get one of those USB-powered lights at hang it off the monitor, ghetto style.

Instead of a lighted keyboard (that you are not use to using), perhaps you might want to consider just a small USB light to help you out in dark LAN rooms:

I don't see the fascination with playing in a dark room, I hate gaming with the lights off! Are you trying to hide something between the deathmatchs and the porn?

(maybe it's a good thing the lights are off)

Oh yeah, I think I found The One:

Every key of the Optimus keyboard is a stand-alone display showing exactly what it is controlling at this very moment.

That LCD keyboard looks neat, but seriously, how often are you really looking at your keys? It's going to cost a lot, will be pretty fragile, and mostly just be for show. Save your cash for a good mouse or a nice headset.
