No no no! Israel is following the UN ceasefire agreement and withdrawing from southern lebanon. The lebanese army will just rearm Hezbolah with bigger guns and invade Israel again... Israel should have continued the offensive into central lebanon until they seized control of the "country." Since when do you withdraw when you are winning a war?

When you realize that the "quick kill" you thought you were going to get is past its forth week with no definitive answer in sight. Those Herzblogastags were holding out a hell of a lot better than the Isralies thought they would. It ended up taking so long that the UN actually was able to decide that they didn't approve of what was going on - which being so rare for them to do, is a pretty good sign you need to stop and rethink what you're doing.

Taking too long? This is the shortest war I've ever heard of.

When has the UN ever sided with Israel in anything? Listen to any speech by Annan and you'll hear anti-semitic comments out the rear. The UN is anit-Jew and anti-US on every issue.

Shortest war you've ever heard of Huh?? Well my boy let me enlighten you on the Israelis they fought what is called the 6 day war because in 6 days they defeted Egypt, Jorden and Syria. With most of them there whole tank forces where nearley wipe out. Read up on the history. Here are the reasons there is no State that will officaly go up against Israel.... they will FUCK you up!

Israel captured the Gaza Strip and the Sinai Peninsula from Egypt, the West Bank (including East Jerusalem) from Jordan, and the Golan Heights from Syria.

I changed my mind, it seems Israel is sticking it to the UN and demanding they disarm Hezbolah. They still havent withdrawn from the southern border and aircraft still patrol the border with syria, etc.. They're smarter than I thought, this cease-fire will force the UN's hand and show people who's side they are really on.

I have no idea what the deal is with gaza.

It'll be interesting to see what Israel does with Iran developing their nukes.

Exactly!

They were hoping to go in and wipe out all those rocket caches in only a few days of airstrikes and then clear out a nice DMZ along the border to hold off future rocket attacks. They wanted to have that done before the UN got off their asses in their precious meetings and tried to intervene. Wipe the enemy out in a week and you don't have to worry about sanctions getting in your way, you'll be done before anyone reacts.

The problem was, those stashes were too tough for the bombs the Israelis had - since they had not yet gotten those massive "bunker buster" bombs the USAF has been trying to sell them. As a result, they were forced to go in by land to try and get all those stashes. That was a lot slower than they were hoping to go about this. And sure enough, it took too long and all the whiners got in on the "action".
